Sympozjum odbędzie się w formie On-line i ma charakter transkulturowej inicjatywy, respektującej i wzmacniającej lokalne konteksty badań nakierowanych na podmiotowe aspekty uprawiania nauk społecznych i humanistycznych (stąd decyzja o poświęceniu jednego dnia Sympozjum na odsłony w języku polskim, hiszpańskim i japońskim). ISAN jest instytucją powołaną do życia przez International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry (IAANI), corocznie, począwszy od 2021 r., gromadząc badaczy narracyjnych i autoetnografów z kilkudziesięciu krajów. Jest jedną z dwóch najważniejszych ścieżek aktywności (obok IAANI Forum), nawiązujących do spotkań zainicjowanych na początku lat 1990. przez Carolyn Ellis, która wyszła z inicjatywą przygotowania założycielskiego sympozjum „Sociology of Subjectivity” (Dolphin Beach Resort, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA), rozpoczynającego ruch autoetnograficzny w skali ogólnoświatowej. Ellis, wspólnie ze swoim partnerem i wieloletnim współpracownikiem Arthurem P. Bochnerem, a także należącym do ezoterycznego kręgu autoetnografów, Tonym Adamsem, tworzy jądro inicjatywy ISAN/IAANI, a akompaniują im tak wybitni badacze i działacze na rzecz popularyzacji badań upodmiotowionych, jak chociażby Mitchel Allen, Mark Freeman, Keneth Gergen, Mary Gergen, Alec Grant, Ronald J. Pelias, Carol Rambo, Laurel Richardson czy, do momentu śmierci, Norman K. Denzin. Sesje po polsku będą bezpłatne dla każdego. Dla uczestników z zakwalifikowanymi i włączonymi do programu prezentacjami po polsku, całe Sympozjum będzie nieodpłatne. We cordially invite all interested parties to participate in a unique event, the International Symposium on Autoethnography and Narrative Research – 2025 edition. The Symposium will be held online and is a transcultural initiative that respects and strengthens local contexts of doing research focused on the subjective aspects of practicing social sciences and humanities (hence the decision to devote one day of the Symposium to presentations in Polish, Spanish and Japanese). ISAN is an institution established by the International Association of Autoethnography and Narrative Inquiry (IAANI), annually, starting from 2021, gathering narrative researchers and autoethnographers from several dozen countries. It is one of the two most important activity paths (along with the IAANI Forum), referring to meetings initiated in the early 1990s by Carolyn Ellis, who took the initiative to prepare the stone symposium “Sociology of Subjectivity” (Dolphin Beach Resort, St. Petersburg, Florida, USA), starting then the autoethnographic movement on a global scale. Ellis, together with his partner and long-time collaborator Arthur P. Bochner, as well as Tony Adams, who belongs to the esoteric circle of autoethnographers, forms the core of the ISAN/IAANI initiative, and they are accompanied by such outstanding researchers and activists for the popularization of subjectivized research as Mitchel Allen, Mark Freeman, Keneth Gergen, Mary Gergen, Alec Grant, Ronald J. Pelias, Carol Rambo, Laurel Richardson and, until his death, Norman K. Denzin. The sessions in Polish will be free for everyone. For those who have scheduled presentations in Polish and are included in the program, the entire symposium will be free of charge.
